Backpacker Trail
FloydFest offers the newly created Backpacker Trail!! For all of those that love to hike there’s a 3.5 mile trek from the offsite GA parking and camping lots to the festival. For those that wish to hike to the site they’ll be able to catch the shuttle for a quick 1/2 mile ride where they will catch the head of the trail at the Rocky Knob Cabins. Hikers will then hike a two lane fire road a mile or so before catching the Rock Castle Gorge Trail. This leads directly to the Festival Site. The actual Rock Castle Loop Trail is an amazing Blue Ridge system that’s an 11 mile loop. They can either tag their gear via a claim ticket at the Delta Lot and retrieve it when they arrive at the site OR simply carry their gear onto the bus and then proceed to the trail with their packs. The trail is deemed an intermediate trail with an approximate 700′ ascent over 1.5 of the 3.5 miles for an approximate 7 mile loop. Hikers may take full advantage of their hike by continuing onto the Rock Castle Gorge Hiking Trail for an 11 mile loop. There will be a Trail Head Kiosk Map along with trail maps available at both ends of the FF Backpacker Trail. There will also be a log book for hikers to log their miles as part of the Backpacker Million Mile Log Hiking campaign. All hikers are encouraged to log their miles for a chance to win a pair of tickets to FloydFest 2014.
Moon Stomper Mountain Bike Trail-

Announcing the Belcher Mountain Beat Down!
A Guided Floyd Fest Mountain Bike Journey
Through a partnership with Pembroke, Va.-based Tangent Outdoors and the Moonstompers Bike Club, FloydFest is happy to announce an all-new GUIDED mountain bike tour that descends the Blue Ridge and finishes with miles of hand-built single-track trail! The 16-mile route includes 1700’ of elevation gain and 3500’ of descending.
We will ride as a group from FloydFest through gorgeous Virginia countryside to the spine of Belcher Mountain, where we’ll descend via rugged trail to the valley below before reaching a course with miles of creek crossings on the way to the I.C. Deerheart park in Woolwine. At the ride’s end, we’ll enjoy a catered lunch and shuttle service back to FloydFest.
The ride will take 2 to 3 hours. Riders are required to bring their own bicycle. The Belcher Mountain Beat-Down is not recommended for beginner mountain bikers. However, beginners should feel free to participate — the I.C. Deerheart Park includes 15 miles of friendly trails to explore at your leisure. Those wishing to ride only this part of the journey may attend and ride the shuttle each way.
We will depart FloydFest at 10 am on Saturday and return by 2 pm. Meet at the FloydFest front gate.
Cost per rider is $30 and includes lunch. Proceeds after cost will be donated to the I.C. Deerheart Memorial Park Trail Fund. Participation is limited to 25 riders — RESERVE YOUR SPACE NOW!
