SORRY SOLD OUT FOR 2013!
Greetings FloydFest Glampers!
We have partnered with Floyd-based Blue Ridge Yurts and now offer glamorous, full-amenity accommodations for your FloydFest stay. This FAQ outlines the details of these accommodations, towards providing you with the advance information you need to make the most of your experience.
Camping Hosts: We have a team of people stationed nearby (look for the ‘yurt village hosts’ sign) dedicated to answering any questions you may have and providing general information, as well as a golf cart shuttle available when you need it, and to facilitate ice delivery, or whatever your needs may be!
Check-in: Please follow directions on the ‘directions’ page to CHARLIE Lot, which is where our main gate is located. Present your tickets and receive your keys and parking pass.
Arrival Time: As a FloydFest Yurt-Dweller, you are invited to arrive on Wednesday, July 24th, anytime from NOON to MIDNIGHT. The festival site is located at milepost 170.5 off the Blue Ridge Parkway; detailed directions are on the website.
Parking: Your status as a yurt-dweller entitles you to a single onsite parking space directly adjacent to your accommodations. A specific parking decal will be placed on your windshield when you check-in at CHARLIE Lot (off of Rock Church Rd.). Once you have your wristband and parking pass you will proceed to the festival site where a guide will lead your vehicle by a golf cart to ensure a mellow journey to your yurt.
Coming and Going: We always hope that our four-day visitors are with us for the duration; from food to medical to showers and our camp store for forgotten supplies, we have what you need available. That said, if you must leave the site, simply let your campground hosts know, and they will arrange an escort out. Once you return, you will again be escorted in by personnel on a golf cart.
Security and Credentials: Upon check-in at CHARLIE Lot, your 2-4 yurt dwellers will receive a laminate with yurt keys. There is fencing around the Yurt Village, and festival security stationed nearby. That said, AtWP is not responsible for loss or damage of or to personal property.
Liability: You will be asked to leave a credit card number and signature at check-in upon arrival. The supplies and decor in your yurt have value; your credit card will only be charged if there is loss or intentional damage to the yurt or its furnishings.
Yurt amenities: Each yurt comes equipped with the following:
- Queen bed with sheets, blanket and coverlet
- Futon for sitting or additional sleeping (sleeps 2)
- Electrical outlet
- Ambient lighting
- Hanging clothes storage
- Private port o’ let
- Coffee maker and locally-roasted Red Rooster Coffee
- Shared outdoor lounge with cooler of complimentary drinks
- Two of the following:
- Towels
- Pillows and pillowcases
- Coffee Cups
- Adirondack chairs
After-Party: All Yurt-dwellers are invited to join us Sunday evening for our annual FloydFest ‘After-Party’ which takes place backstage, and features music on the VIP stage!
Departure: We invite our yurt-dwellers to stay on site Sunday night, July 28th and make a leisurely departure on Monday morning. Check-out time is noon.
About your Yurt: Your Blue Ridge Yurt was manufactured locally by Blue Ridge Yurts, a Floyd-based women-owned company supplying top quality yurts for seven years. For more information on Yurts and Yurt-living, stop by the Demo yurt located along the main mulch pathway and flip through a book, see photo galleries, and talk with the yurt-makers!
Want one (who wouldn’t!)? Your Yurt is available for purchase at a 10% discount. (Prices range from $6,000-$9,000.) If you’re interested, visit Sharon or Kathy in the demo model in the main field and make arrangements to take it down, pack it up, and set it up wherever you want!
